How do field trips/activities work?
- For Summer 2023, Summer Recreation will only accept registration through FamilyID. No on-site registrations will take place. Payment will be completed entirely on the FamilyID website. No checks/cash will be accepted. Registration will close the Wednesday before each new week.
What are the hours of operation?/What date does the camp run through?
- The program runs Monday through Friday from 9AM to 3PM.
- Lunch is from 12PM to 1PM.
- The camp will operate from Wednesday, July 5th through Friday, August 4th.
Where do I drop off/pick up my child?
- All campers should be dropped off/picked up at the side entrance of Birch Lane on Nassau St. (entrance to the back gym).
- In order to allow for a smooth dismissal, we ask that you follow the labeled IN/OUT door signs posted above the entrance.
What group will my child be placed in?
- Campers are grouped based on the grade they will be entering in September. Boys and girls are separated for grouping purposes only.
What is the policy on bullying?
- There is a zero-tolerance policy for any type of bullying. If there are any issues that arise, please bring them to the attention of the director.
What is the policy on bringing electronic devices to Summer Recreation?
- Electronic devices (such as phones, Bluetooth stereos, and portable game consoles) are not permitted at Summer Recreation. We are not responsible for any devices that are lost, stolen, or damaged. In the event that your child needs to call home, he/she may use the office telephone.
What should my child bring to camp on a daily basis?
- Campers are strongly advised to wear sneakers on a daily basis when attending Summer Recreation. Campers will not be permitted to play any physical activities in footwear that is not secured to the child's foot (e.g. sandals/Crocs).
- All campers should bring a water bottle and a nutritious bagged lunch. We ask that all water bottles and lunches be labeled with your child's name to avoid any confusion. Water bottles/sports drinks will also be available for purchase at camp for $1.00/$2.00 respectively.
How do field trips/activities work?
- Birch Lane Summer Recreation will participate in several optional activities per week. All activities require permission slips and additional fees. All trips are on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event that a trip/activity sells out, a wait-list will be made available in the event of a cancellation. Permission slips/trip fees are due the day before the field trip at 10 AM, unless otherwise specified. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Field trips/activities must be paid for with CASH ONLY.
- Most activities occur in the morning session (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM), unless otherwise specified.
- If a field trip/activity is canceled, refunds will be issued in sealed envelopes to each family.
